In a world obsessed with fame and followers, Shine flips the script. This curriculum teaches kids that real greatness comes from giving God glory — not chasing it for ourselves. Through five action-packed days, children explore the five biblical crowns that Scripture promises to believers who shine for Jesus here on earth. And the most amazing part? One day, they’ll cast those crowns right back at His feet.
Shine uses the imagery of light, mirrors, and crowns to teach a profound biblical truth: God is the source of all glory, and we exist to reflect it back to Him. Think mirror balls, glow rooms, neon colors, and high-energy worship — all pointing kids to the One who is the light of the world.
5-Day Bible Teaching Breakdown
Every session is built on Scripture and centered on the Gospel. Each day explores one of the five biblical crowns — showing kids that when we shine for Jesus, He promises eternal reward.
Day1
Crown of Victory
The Tower of Babel · Genesis 11
Read this day free →“Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.”
Kids discover that building something for our own glory always fails — but living for God’s glory leads to a crown of victory that lasts forever. The Tower of Babel shows what happens when we try to make a name for ourselves instead of honoring God’s name.
Day2
Crown of Life
Stephen’s Faith · Acts 7
“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him.”
Stephen kept telling the truth about Jesus even when it cost him his life — and as he died, he saw Jesus standing at the right hand of God. Kids learn that God promises the crown of life to those who stay faithful to Him through hard times, because nothing in this world can take away the life Jesus gives.

Crown of Rejoicing
Jesus Calls the First Disciples · Luke 5
“For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you? Indeed, you are our glory and joy.”
When Jesus called His first disciples, they left everything to follow Him — and then brought others to Jesus. Kids learn that the crown of rejoicing is earned by sharing the gospel and helping others come to faith. Leading someone to Jesus is the greatest joy.
Day4
Crown of Glory
John the Baptist · Matthew 3
“And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.”
John the Baptist could have gathered a following of his own, but he pointed every crowd to Jesus instead, saying someone far greater was coming. Kids learn that the crown of glory is for those who faithfully point others to the Chief Shepherd — making much of Jesus, not themselves.

Crown of Righteousness
Paul’s Charge to Be Ready · 2 Timothy 4
Gospel invitation day
“Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day — and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
Paul fought the good fight and kept the faith. On the final day, kids hear the gospel invitation clearly: all who put their trust in Jesus and long for His return will receive the crown of righteousness. This is the culmination of the week — a clear call to faith.

How do I share it with my volunteers?
Invite them from your account. Is this curriculum up to date?
The Gospel doesn’t change, and neither does great Bible teaching. Shine was built to last — not to expire after one summer. We’ve included a free Director’s Update guide with tips for using modern tools like streaming music, QR codes, digital registration, and video playback so you can run Shine with today’s technology.
What ages is Shine designed for?
Pre-K through 6th grade. A complete, separate Preschool Manual is included with age-appropriate lessons, games, snacks, activities, and crafts. We also encourage preschoolers to join the elementary kids for the Opening and Closing worship sessions — they love the music and movement!
How long does each day run?
A typical day runs about 3 hours with five rotations and 5-minute transitions built in. You can easily shorten or extend the schedule to fit your church’s needs.
Do I need to buy anything else?
No. Your $99 download includes every manual, video, music video, skit script, activity sheet, craft guide, game plan, and promotional material. The only optional purchases are physical items like CDs, name tags, and t-shirts if your church wants them.
What’s the “Funky Beats” rotation?
It’s a unique snack-plus-music rotation where kids eat a themed treat and then learn to play bucket drums! Go Fish’s Jamie and drummer Steve teach a new beat each day through instructional videos. Churches love setting this up as a glow room with black lights for extra fun.
Can I use Shine for something other than VBS?
Absolutely. Many churches adapt Shine as a 5-week Sunday school series, midweek program, or day camp curriculum. The structure is flexible enough to work in any setting.
